Its come to my attention that someone is claiming ownership of one of my pieces of art, this time its my 3d gallery thats taking a hit rather than my 2d gallery. I have had some experience in convincing people in the past that it wasn't in their best interest to steal my work, as well as an almost perfect success rate of the 3-4 times its happened until now. I prefer not to get involved in lengthy and ridiculous disputes over something as stupid as someones envy over my work but if it must be done all I have to do is prove my case.

There deviant here who has posted my work less than a month ago from a 2 year old model I released publicly on a well known site. I've politely asked this individual to take the references to my work down or prove its origin. Though after a tie raid of insults the user decided to block me and prevented me from trying to sway their short sightedness before I could make more than 2 comments to their 5-6. They continue to deny he/she is in the wrong; So I'll let the mods decide what to do with this deviant user.

Needless to say I couldn't inform him that I had done a comparison of his model to mine and with the WIP images he/she posted I'm still not satisfied that his rip of my work is unique. In fact the model only goes to prove my point since its almost an exact match minus some modifications that where apparently made by someone I had given permission to distribute my model. That user cited me, and I encourage him to continue to do so.

The problem is that the user didn't just post this work on this website, he/she also posted it in a few forums and on their own personal website. Where I think it will be fairly easy to have administrators of sites he doesn't manage remove my work from his accounts, his host service will be a bit more tricky though and I'm preparing to submit documentation to his host and possibly to court soon after if he/she does not comply. I've made a few communications with this user outside deviantart as polite as I can minus a slip or two which is regrettable. I would apologize to him for any possible threatening comments I've made but its unlikely the user will even open any message I send him/her from now on and trying to sneak my messages into his in-box only makes me lose credibility. Sadly I will be ignored.

I'm not sure how far I'm willing to take this dispute, more than likely it will be somewhere just short of going to court unless this person decides to offend me more by insulting me so readily. I don't think its that important of an issue to be so furious about. I released my model for free, I expected it to be modified, I expected it to be redistributed. I didn't make restrictions on that when I authored my documentation however making a claim of ownership is what erks me about the issue. If I can't have him/her remove my work and I decide not to fallow threw with a law suit I'll probably just settle for making him/her a pariah on the internet since they won't be posting my work on other websites because I will notify any hosts as soon as I'm aware of it until even google has cached enough examples of his accounts being banned and locked, and there is a firm record of this person trying to pass off pattern of theft.

To be honest I'm not really even mad about this situation. Offended, yes, but I can't say I'm angry with this person. Weather or not they ever feel like talking to me again after this is their business, I would honestly give them pointers on modeling if they asked although in the troughs of this situation I'll probably hold off on that until this is all resolved. I have no grudge unless they chose to make it one by continuing this pointless fight. I just hope they come to their senses before they suffer the consequences of my reports.

also just a little post edit here, if anyone is familiar with my situation or knows whom I'm referring to (or has investigated this situation upon my post) please do not get involved. I don't want anyone getting banned for harassment. I don't want to get suspended due to a volume of people getting involved because it would look like i sent them. I've intentionally kept this journal very vague to protect this case from unaffected parties.

This topic can now be put to rest, the files have been removed and I'm satisfied. I have nothing more to say about it to the user. if he/she feels like talking to me feel free if not, peace out man I wish you the best. for users who feel its necessary to continue to post on this subject, please be aware I don't intend to take negative comments on a personal dispute that has been settled. you have no business getting involved and I will report said comments quickly in efforts to keep my user page from getting cluttered. I won't hide your comments but I will reply with the mentioned action taken.
